Who You Are: As a Store Manager at Habitat for Humanity Re Store, youre responsible for leadership, guidance, and control of all aspects of daily store operations. You understand and can function in any of the store staffing positions, while leading and facilitating the training of your team to do the same. You are a part of the greater Habitat Portland Region People Leader team and excel at representing Re Store and Habitat for Humanity professionally and courteously in all interactions with staff, volunteers, and clientele. Youll be expected to perform all tasks safely, efficiently, and effectively. Youll be responsible for: Store Operations (50%) Oversee all store operations. Initiate, coordinate, and apply program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures. Complete store operational requirements, delegate tasks, follow up on work results, initiate corrective actions when necessary. Financial responsibility: understanding discretionary spending categories and manage spending limits. Maintain staffing levels, while meeting labor budget goals and scheduling for the needs of the business. Maintain control of back banks, cash donations and deposits. Monitor POS system, keep register information accurate, and train staff cashiers Pricing control: research products to ensure pricing is reasonable (not too high or low), monitor staff pricing, collaborate with other managers on shared or common product pricing guidelines, authorize clearance sales Order and maintain stock of items needed for processing donations, site maintenance and safety Maintain a clean, well-organized store with clear signage through thoughtful merchandising and tidy displays. Ensure purchased product sections are fully stocked, neatly arranged, and clearly signed. Keep donated items organized by category, well-maintained, and prominently signed. Maintain relationships with local community through collaboration with and support of development staff. Maintain Portland Metro Re Stores brand consistency through collaboration with Director of Marketing and Communications. Collaborate with Director of Retail and VP of Re Store to prioritize store improvement projects with building maintenance budget in mind. Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Retail or VP of Retail. Staff Success (25%) Staff hiring, onboarding, and training (in collaboration with HR and Director of Retail). Staff evaluation: monitor and appraise work quality, motivate, train, counsel and hold accountability with staff. Create and expect an atmosphere of openness, diversity, equity, and inclusion. Encourage sharing of ideas and/or concerns. Approve staff quarterly job objectives and prepare and present annual performance reviews. Volunteer Success (10%) Support the success of the volunteer program by managing the daily performance of the in-store Volunteer Coordinator, providing strategic guidance for volunteer engagement, and collaborating with the Volunteer Program Team to implement the regional program plan effectively in your store. Acquire knowledge of volunteer management platform to be able to step in if there is a gap between volunteer coordinators. Health and Safety (15%) Maintain stability and reputation of store by complying with legal requirements. Oversee facility health and stay up-to-date with site maintenance. Plan and hold store safety meetings, ensure incident reports are completed when needed, manage safety concerns in store, enforce safety requirements and guidelines, ensure a safe and clean environment. To be successful in this role, youll have**: Exemplary leadership skills, a positive can-do attitude, calmness under pressure, and an entrepreneurial mindset. Proven problem-solving skills, including supervising unexpected issues and emergencies. Successful and effective management and control of all aspects of multi-faceted retail/reuse operation. Advanced written and verbal communication and solid basic math skills. Courtesy and professionalism to gracefully resolve customer, donor and staff issues and complaints. Ability to manage with integrity, honesty and knowledge which promotes the culture and values of Habitat. Proven record of accomplishment of building strong teams with strong culture. Comfortable with accountability and skilled in giving and receiving direct feedback to support growth and improvement. Exposure to HR processes and proven record of accomplishment of leading job performance counseling. Operational experience should include hiring, performance management, scheduling, facility oversight and budget management. 3-5 years management experience, preferably Retail Store Manager. 2-4 years of customer service experience in fast-paced retail or high customer traffic capacity. **Any combination of formal education, paid work experience, unpaid/volunteer experience, and life experience will be considered. To be considered above and beyond the average candidate in this role, youll also have: Experience managing volunteers. A love of DIY, resale, people, and Habitat for Humanitys mission. Ability to operate bilingually in Spanish. Knowledge to effectively communicate all aspects of Habitat and Re Store mission and operations. Your work environment and physical demands: You will spend your workday in an open warehouse and retail environment. Assisting customers and handling donations is very active and requires consistent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. This means you will frequently lift, move, and/or load items over 50 pounds with mechanical or co-worker assistance. Your Work Schedule: 40 hours a week, including at least one weekend day. Current store hours: Wednesday Monday 10am-6pm, Tuesday 11 am 6 pm. Your Compensation: We aim to offer equitable pay and benefits and are committed to transparency in compensation. Basing compensation on a candidates willingness and/or ability to negotiate leads to inequities and bias in how employees are compensated. We determine the best possible compensation offer based on base qualifications, relevant experience, internal equity, and the candidates competencies for the role demonstrated during the hiring process. Successful candidates are typically hired within the first half of the Pay Range and receive scheduled incremental increases. When starting in this position, your compensation will generally be between $58,650 to $71,459. The full range for this position is $58,650 to $85,043.
