Our Uncle Giuseppe's stores are growing here on Long Island! With our growth, we are actively seeking a FT Assistant Store Manager for one of our Stores. This individual must be flexible on work location due to company and individual future growth, career pathing and company expansion over time (Nassau/Suffolk area), (we do take home location/radius into consideration for commuting purposes). We currently have 11 stores, with 7 of our gourmet stores located on Long Island. Our Assistant Store Managers support respective Store Managers with the implementation of initiatives and achievements of goals and objectives, with a focus on business operations and merchandising. This position will ensure the consistent flow of store responsibilities and day to day operations. (A background in Grocery perishables is required for this position). An Incentive Bonus of up to 15% is offered with this position. Responsibilities Manage store operations, grocery and gourmet food production, inventory, store staff, schedules, merchandising, customer complaints and all other store operations, working in direct collaboration with the Store Manager Work with all store departments regarding questions or assistance they need to perform their job better Perform store walks to ensure that the store shelves are full and inventory is correctly placed out for customer purchase. Ensure that each department has all displayed dishes filled and all hot items are displayed and clean Work closely with each Department Manager, ensuring that their departments are clean, stocked and staffed Assign duties to staff based on their areas of expertise, to ensure that they make use of their knowledge to render best services in the store Handle customer complaints and returns in a cordial manner, creating mutual benefits to both the store and customers Prepare workers performance report at the end of every month to evaluate their performances, identifying areas with low performances to work on Maintain good store cleanliness by ensuring that the store is constantly cleaned and sanitized by the appropriate staff Create a safe atmosphere by implementing safety measures for the protection of workers and customers, and handle emergencies promptly Other duties and functions as assigned Skills Excellent communication skills: assistant store managers need to be able to communicate effectively in writing and in speech to staff and management Good human relations skills: The assistant store manager relates frequently with people of different background who visit the store for their groceries, and so needs to have a great deal of skills in human relationship to be able to deal with them satisfactorily Ability to resolve conflict: The assistant store manager should expect to have situations arise in the store which will require an immediate response. Individual should be a quick thinker with the ability to address each issue. Multitasking skills: The Assistant Store Managers job description is multi-faceted and so should be able to work on and complete several tasks at the same time so as to be efficient on the job Managerial skills: The Assistant Store Managers position needs someone who can manage both people and materials resource for the efficient operation of the store Organizational skills: Must be able to create effective organization in the store that will enable the staff to carry out their duties efficiently Requirements HS Diploma or equivalent 5+ years of experience working in a busy grocery store, with at least 3 of those years working as an Assistant Store Manager In depth knowledge of all grocery store department operations including inventory, product rotation, staffing, scheduling and product knowledge Strong understanding of safety hazards and prevention with the ability to follow our store standards for preventable hazards, trips and falls Excellent communication and presentation skills This position is being offered with a competitive salary and benefits package including medical, dental, vision, PTO, FSA, 401(K), 50% off lunch, 25% of in store shopping and more!
