Team Leader - Transportation Engineering We currently have an opportunity for a senior manager to join our Indianapolis, IN office as Team Leader for our transportation team, which includes roadway design, topographic survey, and utility coordination in Central Indiana. Primary Responsibilities - Provides leadership and project management for multi-discipline road and bridge projects and oversees or prepares project approach, schedule and budget.
- Oversight of Indianapolis portfolio of transportation design projects, ensuring that appropriate resources are assigned at the right time to deliver all projects ahead of client schedule.
- Leads a team of project management, design, survey, and utility coordination staff, leading and participating in team and project meetings.
- Ensures QC/QA processes are implemented and followed for all transportation and bridge design projects.
- Leads or assists with scope and fee negotiations and any contract amendments as needed.
- Actively supports the development of assigned staff and works to sustain and grow the team's technical capabilities.
- Assists the Area Manager with billing, monitoring project performance, workload forecasting, staff utilization and other administrative tasks.
- Collaborates on project pursuits with BD staff and develops relationships with existing clients and prospects.
- Accountable for project performance and project deliverables. Position Requirements
- B.S. degree in Civil Engineering and IN PE license are required.
- 15+ years of experience leading transportation engineering projects with 5+ years of people leadership.
- Experience with the planning, design and construction of roadway improvements for DOT and LPA clients.
- Knowledge of the INDOT Design Manual and Project Development Process for roadway projects, including submittals, permitting and environmental requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully manage people and projects.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to develop client relationships, market new business, make public presentations and write technical reports.
- Knowledgeable with the capabilities of various transportation design tools including Open Roads Designer.
- Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to client and project sites as needed.
